Older adults can be vulnerable to abuse, neglect, or exploitation by others or themselves. Area Agency offers two programs to advocate for older adults.
The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program provides advocates to help resolve problems at facilities, home, or wherever people choose to receive their long-term care. Examples of this advocacy would be investigating complaints of theft, physical abuse, neglectful care and more. Click here for more information on our Ombudsman Program.
Adult Protective Services is the investigative arm for the community at-large regarding older adult abuse, neglect or exploitation. Area Agency on Aging 10B, Inc. is responsible for Wayne County Adult Protective Services (APS). Click here for more information on APS.
If you would like to make a referral to an Adult Protective Services worker in a different county, please call the numbers below. The Area Agency on Aging can also direct you to the correct agency.
